The Cartoon Network cult favorite animated television show, Rick and Morty, has a long anticipated third season which has been long overdue. The writers have admitted that the long hiatus does is not in fact without reason. At San Diego Comi-con Harmon provided sufficient explanation to quench dedicated fans curiosity.

Co-Writer of the show, Dan Harmon, admitted that the third season of the instant Sci-Fi classic is taking such a long time to produce simply because of creative differences between he and Justin Roiland, the other Co-Writer of Rick and Morty. He explained that they could not agree on where to go with the show. He elaborated further that he and Roiland could be well into season three but whenever discussing how to continue the show they would always end up in heated arguments and that was the biggest of their slow downs. Harmon also explains that as a show they have deadlines to meet as well as have the episodes run by supervisors, and not only is the show critiqued by them but the animators as well, and if they weren’t satisfied enough with what they had created they would start over . He explains that there have been scheduling conflicts as well. At San Diego Comi-con Harmon is quoted as saying such,

“It’s been harder this season… I watched the thumbnail animatic of Episode 304 and I was ready to move forward with it and Ryan [Ridley] said ‘we’re not satisfied with it and we were already behind schedule. They have to bear the brunt of the schedule, they have to work weekends. They are the ones that wanted to do it. There’s a weird higher calling there and it’s not an endless perfectionism because you know when something finally clicks and you go ‘this is a good episode of TV.’ But it’s not just me and I was very happy to find that out.”.

No matter how initially annoyed dedicated fans were by the slow movement of the shows development they were inclined to respect the fact that the animators do not treat it as just another animated comedy. They treat it with respect and make sure that it lives up to its full potential.
