Heath Ledger, a well-known and down to earth actor died nine years ago. Heath Ledger was known for his roles in Brokeback Mountain, A Knights Tale, and finally The Dark Knight Rises. In a recent interview his sister, Kate Ledger, opens up about the main question millions of fans had after his death: did the Joker kill Heath Ledger?

Kate reveals many things the fans had no clue about. During Ledger’s time playing the Joker his sister said it was just a big gag to him, that there was no “doom and gloom”. Since Heath had such a good sense of humor, playing the Joker was something he had fun doing. After his death of an overdose of sleeping pills, rumors circled around that he died at the hands of the Joker. Fans and the media publicly said that his role in The Dark Knight had taken a major toll on him, but it was just an accident that wasn’t prevented in time. His sister Kate also reveals that having the media watch as you mourn the death of your brother was one of the hardest things she has ever had to experience. She describes it as horrendous even though the nine years have passed. She never thought for a second she would lose her brother so early.

May 17, a new documentary called “I Am Heath Ledger” airs live for its first television screening. The documentary goes into detail on Ledger’s life, starting out with his youth and moving into his adulthood in the movie industry. The director Derik Murray talks about the tragic fate of Heath and how the fans played it up as he spiraled into a depression over his role of the Joker. Murray states that what they speculated was the complete and total opposite of what was the case. He states that the documentary will go into some detail about what really happened and how the role Ledger played didn’t take the life of the actor.

An accidental overdose took the 28-year-old away from his friends, family and his fanbase to early than ever expected. Heath Ledger will always be known for his infamous role as the Joker, but fans even now will still believe, Heath fell at the hands of the Dc comic character.
