California Taxes are a Stab in the Back for Everyone
November 1, 2017
Is it just me or does it seem odd that our state motto is the Golden State but most of the gold is in Sacramento and not with the people? This could be due to the fact that the people of Legislatures who run this state go home to a house of gold that is paid for with our tax money. How is this possible, you ask? because there is a disconnect between the elected official and those who work for an hourly wage.
There are many effects – most of them hurtful – from adding new taxes on top of existing taxes but most are bad for the people in the middle-class or lower. One of these effects is that there is less money in the consumers hands. This means that a ton of people can not buy what they want with the little money they have which means the manufacturer has no income or need for workers. As a result, there are more people in the unemployment line and huge businesses are moving out of state. The opposite would be “Trumped-up” trickle down economics, which works. How do I know it works? In the 1980s, President Reagan used this system of lowering taxes nationwide which led to an expansion of the economy. Overall, it is basic human nature – when people have more money in their wallets, they are more likely to spend it on goods and services which thus creates jobs and grows the economy.
Other reasons that taxes hurt us is how they effect the cost of ding business in the state of California. This can cause big corporations to pull out of the state. If and when this happens, you will have a ton of people leaving the state to a place that is cheaper somewhere else in the United States. Then California could be in a state of poverty, but our government does not know that because they are too busy voting on junk we don’t get to approve.
Anyway, on another note, I strongly believe the governor does not have a clue what the word economics means. I am not saying he is a bad person. I like him just as a person, but he’s not “the sharpest knife in the drawer” to put it nicely. I believe that he could be a really good politician if he realizes what we go through everyday. When I see him on the podium giving a boring speech, I think that he has reached the top of his game and cannot do anything better. I look at the persons character and not at which political side he is on.
You can disagree with me all you want about this topic. I will keep my words on the state of California. You guys may not care about this new bill (the new gas tax), but I see what is going on with my parents income. When I do have a say on everything this state does I will be sure and vote which is the only way we can make changes. Good morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Night California.

This is a good opinion piece, but grammatically it could use tweaking, make sure the argument flows and that it doesn’t sound too informal.
