Prom 2021
A comprehensive guide
April 5, 2021
In light of recent changes regarding covid, the CNUSD district has decided to host a 2021 prom. Due to the difficult nature of regulations placed on large gatherings this event will be held in the students’ cars as they drive through music and lights. Titled; “Prom on Wheels” This year’s dance is going to be incredibly different from events that past Santiago students have ever seen before. It will take place at the OC fair center in Costa Mesa and is said to be one mile long. This will not be exclusive to Santiago students, the entirety of CNUSD high schools are being hosted by the district.
Tickets are on sale now going at 79 dollars for vehicles with up to five passengers, and 99 dollars for vehicles up to 8 passengers. Limos will be permitted, however, vehicles can not be any longer than 8 feet tall or 16 feet long. The prices were changed once due to concerns from students, but as of now, this is the most updated pricing. It will be held from 8-10 pm on April 30th and this highly anticipated drive-through promises to hold up to its price point as a self-described “one in a lifetime one-mile immersive drive-through prom celebration.”
Tickets are limited so in order to make your purchase now, visit www.promonwheels.com. From there you can select student tickets and select your high school. The password is prom21 and after selecting April 30th as well as your desired time slot and any additional add ons, you can easily submit your payment.
For some students and parents, Prom on wheels was not up to par with expectations, especially considering the price tag was originally around 150 dollars (later adjusted to 79 and 99). This inspired certain individuals to host their own prom. One example of this is the Senior Dinner Dance. This will be hosted on May 28th at the hidden valley golf club. This dance runs for 50 dollars a person and offers amenities such as a taco bar, dessert, unlimited soft drinks, and a DJ. Tickets can be purchased through Julie Finaldi at 951-522-4523. This dance is exclusive to Santiagos Highschool seniors, but there are several other options for students who do not fall into this category.
Regardless of what prom CNUSDs high school students choose, we can only hope this year’s experience will be one that is unforgettable.
