Disney Reopens
May 6, 2021
The California Disney Parks have been closed now for over a year, but with California at a rate of 9,381 covid cases per 100,000 individuals, the parks have made the decision to reopen their doors- with a few restrictions. First off attendance is limited to only California residences. Even though Disney and Universal Studios have been open in Florida since the summer of 2020, Newsom has required our state to be at a very low level of cases prior to reopening. The wait was long and hard-earned but in early April Disney was able to announce their gates would open once again on April 30th, 2021.
In order to stop the spread of the coronavirus, several precautions will be taken. Park reservations are now required, and park attendance will be managed by a new reservation system. Face coverings will be mandatory for all guests over the age of 2. Temperature screenings will be administered at the entrance of the park and at the entrance of some attractions, specifically indoor attractions that increase the risk of a virus being spread. Cleaning will be enhanced and social distancing will be enforced. With these new rules in place, Disney can brace itself for the swarm of individuals who are excited for entry as soon as possible.
Other theme parks such as Universal studios will also be opening for California residents exclusively. As of April 16th Universal reopened with tremendous success, using this opportunity to promote their new attractions in the Jurrasic park section. Knotts will also open May 21st (May 6th for pass holders.)
With the world opening up again it’s about time that theme parks do as well, and I and many others are very excited to see how we go forward.
