How many people has the United States lost to COVID-19?

The United States of America has lost close to seven hundred thousand people to the worldwide virus known as the CoronaVirus. This article’s purpose is to compare how many people COVID-19 has killed to events that most Americans are aware happened.

How many people has CVD killed

CVD kills around 659,000 people every year in the U.S. That means that around one in every four people that die every day died from cardiovascular disease.  The numbers of people dying from cardiovascular diseases are very close to how many people COVID-19 has killed.

How many people have died from cancer?

Around six hundred thousand people die from cancer every year. The most common type of cancer is lung cancer and, about 60% of the cases are from males. With how much cancer is discussed, you would expect it to have a higher fatality rate, and it does. The amount of people cancer kills every year comes in third place out of the tragedies I researched.

How many people died during the Civil war?

Out of the wars that I researched, the American Civil war killed the most people. It makes sense because it was only Americans involved, meaning an American was killing an American, but I believed that the world wars had killed the most Americans. The American Civil war killed around 100,000 more people than both the World Wars combined.

How many Americans died during World War One and World War two?

World war one which occurred around 1914 until 1918, killing around 405,399 Americans. World War One had more casualties than World war two, which lasted six years and a day. World War Two killed 116,516 Americans. Even both of these combined are not enough to equal or surpass the amount of Americans COVID-19 has killed.

How many people die from homicides every year?

Every year around 400,000 people die from homicides every year. Homicides do include both the illegal and legal killings of a person by another person. The number of people who die by a homicide attack every year is only around 60% of how many people COVID-19 have killed so far. While the term homicide is pretty commonly known, it is a term that is used as an umbrella word to encompass all types of murder. The word includes but is not limited to manslaughter, first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and third-degree murder, along with all other types of murder.

How many Americans died during other wars?

It was a little bit shocking to me when I found out that barely 170,000 Americans died while fighting other battles. Compared to how many people we have lost to COVID-19, it is hardly anything! If you add 522,399 (WW1 and WW2); and 162,783 (all other American casualties), you get 685,182 which is less than 691,801.

What I am trying to say is that if you can get vaccinated, please do it so you can keep those who surround you safe.
