Travis Scott Concert Crisis
Travis Scott Astroworld Concert
December 15, 2021
On November 5th in Houston Texas, the 29-year-old rapper Travis Scott performed for the 2021 Astroworld Music Festival. Nearly 50,000 people attended the festival. Around 9:00 p.m. the crowd had “begun to compress toward the front of the stage,” which caused panic and injuries. At the beginning of the incident, 17 people were transferred to the nearest hospital due to fatal injuries. But that was only the start of a very miserable night for the fans of Travis Scott.
The crowd surge was started when people started running to the front of the stage wanting to get closer to Travis. Individuals began to push others to the floor, stepping on them, shoving everyone into each other. The ones who were thrown to the floor were being crushed to death. Some started to hyperventilate due to lack of oxygen and anxiety causing them to pass out. “The quick response from Astroworld security and staff on-site undoubtedly saved even more people from being hurt or worse.”
Sources say that Travis stopped his performance 3 times to ask what was going on. “He asked for everybody in the area to go help them and bring them to the front,” an insider told Us. Some say Travis continued with his songs before stopping the performance.
The youngest victim of the concert was 9-year-old Ezra Blount who sadly passed away after falling and being trampled by the crowd. Ezra’s father, Treston Blount, said his son was a huge Travis Scott fan. Treston held Ezra high on his shoulders as the countdown began to Scott’s performance at NRG Park on Nov. 5. The pair stayed toward the back of the crowd because Treston said he thought it would be calmer. But as soon as Travis Scott took the stage, he said that’s when people started pushing. Treston lost conscious and Ezra fell off his shoulders to the ground. Ezra was then trampled by the concertgoers fleeing from the crowd. Ezra was rushed to the hospital and put on life support for a total of 3 days. After the third day, Ezra’s family shared that 9-year-old Ezra Blount had died.
A memorial service was held for one of the nine victims who died during the rush of the crowd. Friends and family gathered to memorialize Brianna Rodriguez Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the La Paz Memorial Funeral Home, according to a report from KSAT’s sister station in Houston, KPRC. Details on this victim’s death are limited. A balloon release and candlelight vigil were held on Friday the 12th.
