Spread the Love; However you can

Peyton Waddell, Shark Story Editor

Every day, in every area of the world, there are millions of people struggling to survive and make ends meet. People whose odds weren’t in their favor and were dealt a bad deal of cards left to work with what they have. But what are they supposed to work with if they don’t have anything? There are also those in the world who were more fortunate and have been granted money, food, and shelter. The reason the world can be so great is when those fortunate people, want to share their blessings, and are willing to help others.

There are hundreds of organizations and charities that have been established for those with more to help the victims of the cruelty the world has presented to them. If you want to find a charity that you find touches your heart on the impact they’re trying to make, I encourage you to donate whatever you can because anything helps. If you don’t have an organization in mind, spend 5 minutes looking through https://www.charitywatch.org/top-rated-charities and find one that touches your heart.

SOS Children’s Villages: This non-profit organization focuses on offering a welcoming home, love, and kindness to children in need. Working in over 125 different countries, they have worked to build over 570 villages around the world. In these villages, there is an adult that assumes responsibility as the guardian/parent to all of the kids that are placed to live there. They offer orphaned children, healthcare, education, and family care.

World Central Kitchen: The WCK has 6 different areas in focus in its mission to ensure everyone is fed and hydrated.

  • #1 Emergency Food Relief- so in the event of a natural disaster WCK will work to get the people that have been affected by it, a meal
  • #2 Climate Disaster Fund- this area focuses again on natural misfortunes and provides food to communities affected by major climate catastrophes
  • #3 WCK Direct- their free of charge “text to order meal program” sends families all pre-made foods for a family who may be struggling to get food on the table
  • #4 Culinary Training- learning how to make the meals are crucial, so this organization teaches 3 different culinary schools to spread the knowledge of cooking and baking, so there will be people who can successfully gift a meal to someone in need
  • #5 Food Producer Network- according to WCK “…long-term commitment to support communities impacted by climate change by building resilient local food systems and strengthening food security throughout disaster-prone regions
  • #6 Clean Cooking- they wish to prevent chefs from using materials such as wood and charcoal, two accelerants that do not help with climate change

Miracle Foundation: The Miracle Foundation is an organization that focuses its resources on helping children who have been left alone with their families nowhere in sight. Their goal is to help in any way they can in cutting their time at orphanages short. They do not approve of the atmosphere that these children are placed in and feel that it is much too cruel. They wish to grant every child the same opportunity that should’ve been given to them from the very start, a chance to grow up in a family.

Whenever you’re going about your day, try to remember the last time you went above and beyond for someone. Now just think of how grateful men, women, and children will be if everyone were to start donating, even if it’s 5o cents, it’s a help.
