Senior Talent Show and Superlatives

While the majority of the school was laboring over their STAR tests, Santiago seniors were enjoying their second day of senior activities. Senior talent was interspersed with the declaration of senior superlative winners. ASB hosted the Senior Talent Show, with senior president Megan Wilkinson and senior vice-president Matt Dossantos hosting. A mock stage was set up in the gym for performers to use at their leisure.

Wayne Keller, III was the first performer at the talent show, singing the song “Betrayed” from the musical “The Producers”. He worked the gym floor with his over-the-top, comedic gestures, capturing the tone of the musical.

Kirstie Quezada sang an original song and played acoustic guitar, entertaining the crowd with her strong, passionate lyrics. Next up to the stage was Evan Ritter with his deadpan Napolean Dynamite “Vote for Pedro” dance. Ritter’s dramatic, 70s-reminiscent dance moves had the crowd laughing out loud multiple times.

Alex Padilla wooed the crowd with his adorably-awkward impressions of a police siren, a race car, and a car alarm, but ultimately won over the audience of hard-to-please seniors with his impression of “Herbert the Pervert” from the popular show “Family Guy”.

Playing her original song “What It’s Like to be Loved” was Gabby Gibson, snagging the crowd’s attention with her Taylor Swift-like performance. Elizabeth Hernandez performed the class of 2013’s graduation song, taking up the keyboard and utilizing her vocal skills. Last up to the stage were seniors Lauren Lower and Vanessa Williams, assisted by junior guitar-player Matt Rubic. The trio were unable to finish their performance, but went up to the stage with only the best intentions.
