While James Donaldson (Known famously as “Mr. Beast¨) has been in some recent drama lately, this might be the most impactful for him. His most impactful drama first started when allegations were made by DogPack404 calling him out for allegedly faking his videos, not paying out his winners for various challenges, creating online illegal lotteries, hiring an alleged sex offender, and making horrible living conditions for the contestants in his videos—more information on Mr. Beast can be located here.
However, this most recent dilemma has gotten even fellow YouTubers outraged. It all started when Mr. Beast, KSI (Olajide Olatunji), and Logan Paul teamed up to make Lunchly a new competitor to Lunchables. Lunchly contains Mr. Beast’s old product, Feastables, and KSI/Logan Paul’s old product, Prime. This has sparked significant controversy among Youtubers, now calling it a cheap cash grab. Some of these YouTube celebrities who were angry with Lunchly are Zeltik, Rosanna Pansino, and, most famously, DanTDM, who replied with the following:
“What happened to YouTubers man…I can’t not say anything anymore. This is selling stuff for the sake of making money, simple. How does this benefit their fans? This is selling crap to kids who don’t know better than to trust the people who are selling it to them. Do better.”
DanTDM (Daniel Middleton) gained the most traction by having the most likes for his post and the most media coverage of his tweet on the
internet out of all the other celebrities. It got to a point where the Lunchly creators (Mr. Beast, KSI, and Logan Paul) responded in a chain of tweets. MrBeast made a reply stating, “Lunchables sells hundreds of millions of units, and countless people eat it…” and “…then I think giving them a higher quality version at roughly the same price is a net good in my opinion, and why we launched Lunchly.” Many people accepted Mr. Beast’s response and moved on. At this moment, the tweet made by Mr. Beast has been the only kind of response he has made.
to this recent situation. However, the same can’t be said for KSI and Logn Paul. KSI made a tweet essentially poking fun at DanTDM’s deals with various toy companies. Community notes later revealed that KSI made a deal with the same company that he was criticizing DanTDM for using: Youtooz. KSI recently responded again to DanTDM’s tweet and everyone else’s complaints in a video titled “EVERYONE HATES US RIGHT NOW.“ Logan Paul responded, “I’ll tell you what happened to YouTubers. We spent our lives creating content and building our brands, and now we want to build businesses. You don’t say anything when Lunchables faces bans for allegedly containing LEAD, but when we create a better version, are you upset? Then don’t eat it.” Community notes added that Prime allegedly contained lead in its product. This has been the only Lunchly creator’s response as of 10/3/24 regarding this drama. Although all three creators have responded to DanTDM, he has not. Lunchly is still selling despite this drama at various retail stores.
