On July 3rd, 2024, former president Donald J. Trump survived an assassination attempt while publicly speaking at an open-air campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. The bullet struck his ear while he turned his head, missing his cheek by less than an inch. In recent days, the country of Iran pronounced alleged threats to assassinate Trump. This was his response.
The date was September 25, 2024, and it took place at a campaign event in Mint Hill, North Carolina. Trump is publicly speaking when he addresses the fact that if he were president and Iran were to do anything to harm him or the country, he would “Blow your largest cities, and the country itself to smithereens.” He even accentuates this threat by repeating it once more. Trump claims that after doing this, there will be no more threats, repeating this twice.
Next, Trump states that we need more leadership to do so. He reports that there are two people and not one; therefore, we have yet to learn who the president is. “We have two people, not one, that only keep looking. And when you do that, when you just look, trouble always ensues. So its big trouble for our country” —Donald J. Trump
Meanwhile, the president of Iran was in the U.S. at the time and was being kept under large security forces to protect him. Yet even while being guarded, they are threatening the former president of the United States and the candidate in the ongoing election. Trump claims this to be a “strange set of circumstances.” He continues on to call our enemies desperate, referring to Iran for trying to keep Donald Trump from returning to the White House. “They know I will make America great again,” he states.
“No threat will shake me,” Donald Trump proclaims. He ensures he will bring back America’s prestige and power, hoping for America to be feared and respected again. “No enemy will intimidate me.” He ends this half of the speech by empowering those who support him, promising to regain America’s strength that he says was lost when Biden became president four years ago.
To this day, the FBI is still investigating the assassination attempt that took place in July, where one person was killed, as well as another apparent assassination attempt that took place earlier that month at the Trump International Golf Club in Florida. However, investigators have not publicly disclosed the information on either of these cases.
“There have been two assassination attempts on my life that we know of, and they may or may not involve. . . Iran. But I don’t really know,” Trump states. There is no true evidence that ties Iran to the shooter in July.
Overall, Trump forces the overall meaning of this campaign to be a blunt threat to Iran, threatening to blow their entire country to smithereens because of the allegations of assassination threats to Donald J. Trump. This threat was not sugar-coated to any extent and was said to inflict fear in the Iranian President.
