I think we’ve all heard of the band One Direction one way or another. Of course, you have the pop star boy band who had girls in the early 2000s going crazy for Harry, Niall, Zayn, Louis, or Liam.
Sadly, there has been recent tragic news about one of the bandmates; on Wednesday, October 16, at 3:00 PM, Liam Payne was reported deceased. Before the accident at the Hotel Casa Sur in Argentina, there had been a call to the police from the staff of the hotel reporting “an aggressive man that could’ve been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” Exactly where Payne was staying for a concert of his fellow bandmate Niall Horan.
The hotel manager can be heard on a 911 call obtained by the AP saying they had “a guest who is overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol … He’s destroying the entire room and, well, we need you to send someone, please.” As the call went on, the manager’s voice became more anxious, noting the room had a balcony, as stated in an ABC interview.
With further investigation, Payne was found at the bottom under a three-story floor, where he seemed to have jumped off, unconscious. The distance from the three-story hotel to the bottom was 13 to 14 meters (42 to 45 feet). With further investigation from Alberto Crescenti, head of the state emergency medical system, he seemed to be discovered with injuries described as “severe injuries” and “ no possibility of resuscitation.”
Being under the influence could have been foreshadowed due to his vocal stance on substance abuse and dealing with this issue himself. Making his death even more heartbreaking.
This has caused so much grief and distress to fans of Liam Payne but has also confused fans of his former bandmate, Zayn Malik. The latter is currently on tour for the first time since the band originally broke up in the early 2000s. Will he continue his world tour, or will he cancel it to grieve over his dear friend?
