Boys Water Polo All-League Game
Boys Water Polo has had an incredible season so far; they have gone undefeated in League, and I’ve shown their compassion and work ethic in every game. Not only do they work together, but they also have made perfect friendships from the sport, and these friendships have carried on into the game, and I’ve helped them communicate and bring victories home for Santiago sharks. For the game, if they played this week, they played in the second round of all League semi-finals to guarantee a spot to play for the finals to win all big league. This helps them rank their spot in big All-Eight and CIF. They had to do many different steps to get to this point and many practices in games that they had to lead up to get to where they are today.
First quarter:
To begin the game, normally, for boys in water polo you have to swim and race for the ball. Most of the time, Santiago has to swim as fast as they can to get the ball. They win many of these balls most of the time, which starts their offensive play. They began with a perfect start by scoring the game’s first goal, continuing to be a very good defense and defending many of the shots from King. As they continued, they had a couple of bad passes, but they started to clean it up towards the end of the quarter but ended up getting scored on twice.
Second Quarter:
After what happened in the first quarter, the Santiago boys’ water polo team started to clean up their passes more and gave them more accurate shots and opportunities to score. They started to be able to draw more fouls on the other team and started being able to play six-on-five because of how many fouls they were able to draw and cause. As you can see in the pool, many of the players lift each other, tell each other it’s okay, and give each other confidence to continue playing the game how they play. Their coach started to take more time out, and he took time out in the second quarter to regroup the team and give them tips on how to get through the Kings’ defense and score goals. As they started to put it together offensively and defensively, they struggled and got scored two more times; the ending score of the second half was 2 to 4.
Third Quarter:
As they were able to regroup at halftime, they came in with a different strategy and got up more points. They started to see the passes more, see the drives, and be able to play very good defense. They scored more goals by working together and communicating through the king’s defense, finding ways past, and scoring goals. Around the third quarter, the game shifted focus to defense. They were able to lock off their defense. They were beginning to intercept balls from King, take the balls from them, read the past, and defend the play. Fortunately, our goalie was able to make so many saves. Our goalie was blocking 1v1 left and right. They ended up finishing the quarter with 7-4.
Fourth Quarter:
As they entered the last quarter, they entered with a different mindset. They wanted to win so badly, so they put their minds to it and started playing an amazing game. They scored three goals back to back, and we played Amazing defense by making King fumble the ball, forcing them to make a bad pass, and resulting in a forced pass. As I started to keep scoring and scoring, they got ahead by a lot and ended up winning the game 11-8.
As a result, they went and had a very good season. They have worked very well together. This is what’s gotten in here: all these amazing friendships on the team and all the hard work they have done at practice. With morning and afternoon practices, a lot of practices, and they have just worked so hard, won all-league, and now they are on CIF. Boys water polo has played incredibly this season and have had great things, and now they’re off to CIF. They have to keep up the communication and the hard work, and they are good to go.
