Will Miocic beat the undefeated Jon “Bones” Jones in the highly awaited battle
The Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic fight is on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Things have gotten personal between the two, but with both outstanding fighters, this fight should be very entertaining. “Jon Jones’ demeanor toward Stipe Miocic has taken a turn during UFC 309 fight week, and with the fight more than 48 hours away, it’s clear things have gotten personal.” MMAJunkie.com. This just shows how entertaining the fight is going to be. Both fighters have very solid stats but different fighting styles. During the fight, they will have to adjust to each other’s fighting styles to compete against each other.
Looking at the statistics, it looks like Jon Jones has the advantage over Miocic in this fight. Although they are the same height, Jones has 8 pounds on Miocic. He also has a better win rate at Jones, being 27-1, and Miocic 20-4. “Miocic has the most successful title defenses in UFC heavyweight history. The firefighter hasn’t competed since 2021 and looks to prove he has much left in the tank.” Sportingnew.com. Miocic not having fought since 2021 gives him a significant disadvantage. Jones also has a 4’ longer reach than Miocic, and Jones also has a 10% better defense. After their last fight was canceled, Miocic was extended a lengthy layoff. This gives him a crazy disadvantage.
Jones is known as the best mixed martial arts fighter of all time. “From becoming the youngest champion in UFC history by stopping Mauricio Rua to defeating Ciryl Gane to become a two-division champion, Jones has cemented himself as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time in the minds of fans, analysts, and many of his peers.” Fans have labeled him as the greatest mixed martial arts fighter ever. This fight will be a tough one for Miocic. Jones has fought in every type of fight possible. He has never been beaten before. The only fight he has ever lost was to disqualification in 2009 to Matt Hamill due to an illegal elbow. In all 28 fights, he has never been beaten before. He shows the kind of fighter he is and how difficult it will be for Mikicic to defeat him in the ring. The stats are against Miocic coming into this fight.
Miocic is undisputedly a fantastic fighter. “He is tied with Randy Couture for most wins in heavyweight title fights (six) and is in sole possession for the most knockouts in title fights among the big boys (four).” ufc.com. Even though the odds may be in Jones’s favor, Mioic is still an incredible fighter, leading to a fascinating and interesting fight. “Since joining the roster in October 2011, Miocic has simply faced and beaten the best heavyweights of multiple eras. From Mark Hunt and Andrei Arlovski to Francis Ngannou and Daniel Cormier, few champions in the last decade-and-a-half had quite the strength of schedule as the former champion.” ufc.com. If Miocic can outperform Jones in the upcoming fight, it will prove that Miocic still has it, and it will be the first-ever technical defeat to Jones’s career.
Looking at the stats, one might think there is no chance that Miocic will win the fight. But after taking a look t his potential and what he is capable of, it should make for an exciting match up.
