Hurricanes, floods, and many more natural disasters worldwide have been increasingly more dangerous and extreme. Climate change is affecting the environment, and so many countries worldwide are having severe weather, from wildfires to massive floods. For example, in Florida, Hurricane Milton was the highest-ever recorded hurricane, 5, because of its severity. It was so bad because it had the correct weather formed by global warming. It had warmer temperatures than previous hurricanes, which increased the intensity of this hurricane overall.
Another natural disaster to mention is the wildfires in California, which were caused by drought. Even though California has had lots of rain in previous years, and now that we have more water, this doesn’t completely fix the drought we have been fighting for many years. Another reason the fires were caused was climate change, one of the many reasons California had such severe fires.
The most significant cause of these disasters is climate change. Climate change has been a problem for a while and will continue to be a problem for extended periods. For example, if climate change remains the same for a hundred years, the world will become uninhabitable for all animals and plants. “The Earth is heading toward “uncharted climate territory” and on track to become uninhabitable for three and six billion people by the end of the century.”
Many things cause climate change, but the main causes are Generating electricity and heat using fossil fuels, Manufacturing goods, and deforestation; most cars, trucks, ships, and planes run on fossil fuels, which also causes emissions. Producing food causes emissions of carbon dioxide and much more. One way to help limit the effects of climate change is to start saving energy at home because a lot of our energy is created by coal, oil, and gas; some ways to limit the amount of energy you use include lowering your heating and cooling of your house, switching your lights to led bulbs and get energy-efficient appliances. Another way to help reduce your travel or when you do travel is to take a bike, bus, walk, or carpool to your destination. You can also eat more vegetables and fruits because producing plant-based foods requires less energy, land, and water. There are many ways to prevent climate change, but these examples are just a few. Some companies and organizations that contribute to climate change the most are ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, and Chevron. Because their companies revolve around the use of gas, they affect the environment by 7% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Although these companies have the most significant impact on climate change, they are not the only ones that are affecting climate change; about one hundred companies affect 70% of global warming. Companies are the main reason for global warming, but reducing our daily effects on the planet would greatly help. To conclude, climate change is a huge problem all around the world because of gas emissions, and we are driving this planet to destruction. So, if the world as a whole were to contribute to stopping the destruction of our planet by reducing our carbon footprint and becoming more green, we could help prevent or at least slow down global warming.
