Boys’ lacrosse is very talented all around. They have a lot of great players on their team who help them both defensively and offensively. On Thursday, the boys’ lacrosse team played Centennial High School, one of their biggest rivals. It is a perfect matchup for us because they are just as good as we are. The boys went on the field for the league championship semi-finals and won the game against Centennial, which was a big deal.
As the first quarter started, the Sharks had many shots on goal, but the goalie stopped many of them, even though they were great shots. Eventually, the Sharks scored their first goal against Centennial. They were so hyped up and kept this energy throughout the quarter. They got more goals than they gave, which gave them a lead, but by the end of the quarter, Centennial came back and scored a few goals. They were ahead of the Sharks by one.

As the boys came back from halftime, they were still hyped. They were putting together great plays on offense, taking strong shots, scoring from outside the crease, and making plays that gave them the lead. Eventually, by the end of this quarter, Santiago and Centennial were tied. The boys continued to push, ending the third quarter tied 8 to 8. They were doing everything they could to keep scoring, but Centennial got one more goal, making it 9 to 8 as they entered the fourth quarter.
As they entered the fourth quarter, the Sharks tried everything they could to stop Centennial from scoring. The Santiago goalie made some key saves that helped move the ball upfield. Eventually, the Sharks scored their ninth goal, tying it 9 to 9. As the game continued, it stayed tied, which meant they had to go into overtime.
As someone in the stands, I saw everyone hyped up and eager for the Sharks to win. The boys were excited, and the crowd was cheering, “Let’s go, Sharks!” They did everything they could to stay focused. Both teams took some great shots in the first overtime, but it still ended up being a tie.
At 10 to 10, the Sharks were moving the ball on offense. Austin Ellis of the Sharks took a beautiful shot and scored the winning goal, scoring 11- 10. That meant the Sharks won and went to the finals round against King. Everyone was so excited because Centennial is an excellent team, and the Sharks hadn’t beaten Centennial this season. It was such a big deal.
