With the school year coming to an end, we are gearing up to say goodbye to the class of 2025 as they venture off from Santiago and pursue their future careers. While this is a bittersweet time for our seniors, many senior activities are upcoming that will make their departure from Santiago fun and memorable. Santiago has done a fantastic job creating senior events and activities since the beginning of the school year, including senior sunrise and prom. While both of these events were very memorable and planned nicely, the most significant senior events of the year are quickly approaching.
To begin, Academic Signing Day is on Tuesday, May 20th. This is a senior event dedicated to seniors who have committed to a four-year university. Anyone attending college and having filled out the RSVP found in the Friday Finale is welcome to join. It is a Renaissance-sponsored event and will take place in the gym at 6 pm. Show your classmates where you decided to go! Additionally, the Senior Scholarship Awards Night is an event dedicated to students who have received scholarships for their college and can receive an award. This event is an invitation-only event at 6:30 pm.
The seniors’ last day of school is May 23rd, not June 5th, unlike all the other classes. The seniors graduate a week before all the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors so that they can have a week filled with exciting senior activities. A load of activities quickly follow the last day of high school to start the senior send-off. Senior check-out day is also May 23rd, so all seniors must return their Chromebooks and clear out their lockers by 10 am.
Now for the fun stuff. Starting on Tuesday, May 27th, a hypnotist will be in the gym at 1 pm. This is an event for seniors to gain insight into what their future holds. The next day, May 28th, is Grad Nite. Seniors who signed up will be going to Disneyland for the entire day. They must be in the gym by 7:30 am to prepare to get on the bus and get on their way.
Friday, May 30th, is Senior Sunset. In contrast to Senior Sunrise, students will now gather on the football field to watch the sun go down and mark the end of their senior year. This wholesome event begins at 6:30 p.m. on the football field and will conclude when the sun sets.
Monday, June 2nd is the Senior Dinner Dance! From 5 pm to 8 pm in the gym, Santiago hosts a dinner-dance for seniors. This will be a Mamma Mia-themed event, and a ticket is required to enter. The next day, June 3rd, is the graduation rehearsal. Students will gather for a “run-through” of the upcoming graduation and collect their tickets for family and friends to join. This is a mandatory event; all seniors are required to attend. Students must arrive at the gym by 8:00 a.m.
The rehearsal for the graduation will be on June 3rd. Students will need to arrive at the gym and will go through a run-through of the upcoming graduation ceremony. The actual graduation ceremony will take place on June 4th. The event is located at the Toyota Arena and will begin around 5:30. It is recommended to arrive early to ensure seating and accommodations for your family members. This is it!
Seniors should be looking forward to this week of activities!
