Jan. 23, 2014 students huddled together after school and formed a #55 on the varsity football field in honor of their fellow shark Jordan Walker’s upcoming birthday (which is on Feb. 5). The students, dressed in teal, black, and white, showed their support for Jordan Walker (11) and his family; students and faculty at Santiago High School are continuing to cheer on his bravery through this time.
“I feel like I’m giving him a sense of support and strength for him to get back to school,” said Alyssa Radkay (12), “I would hope that he appreciates what we’re doing.”
Teammates, classmates, and friends all gathered to wish the soon-to-be 17-year-old linebacker a quick recovery. Walker is currently at Fontana Kaiser Permanente Hospital in treatment for significant trauma to his spinal cord during the Nov. 22 game against Upland High School.
“Jordan Walker deserves the encouragement and the support we are giving him,” said Krysten Van Kirk (10), “I just want him to know that he is in our prayers.”
The saying: ‘Teal to Heal’ has become common when talking about Walker and his recovery, and was shouted repeatedly into the camera as part of a video to be sent to Walker.
