Over spring break members of The Silver Pen Writing Society met to create their overall website for the campus writing club. President Sabrina Yates (11) idea had been discussed in several meetings that took place at the beginning of the semester, and was one of the main goals for the year. The website was primarily created by Yates, and club members Emily Lombrardi (11) and Ashley Heil (11).
“The main purpose of the website is to get the group’s work out here in the open for others to read since many of the club members aspire to be published authors someday,” explained Yates, “I feel like it’s been difficult to get the ball rolling, but once we do it will be a great experience for all of us and hopefully benefit the school as well, to inspire them to showcase the works of their peers.”
The website contains various genres of works ranging from poetry to short stories from different members of the club.
After further delays in the club’s Courage project, Yates wanted to create an opportunity for everyone to get their work published, since the collaborative project has been postponed for later this summer.
Group members were excited about the website, and after the announcement of the official page, quickly began to submit their work that they had been composing in their free time.
“I love our website! Ashley, Sabrina and I worked hard on making it, and it would be amazing if more people read what we wrote,” said Lombrardi.
“The website will be a great way to share what we write and will help us gets known,” added Kandance Fung (11), “It was a great idea.”
