On Friday, November 7, the two post-hardcore bands, Sleeping with Sirens and Pierce the Veil, were at the Pomona Fox Theatre to perform their second show kicking off The World Tour, sponsored by Rockstar Energy. For the next year, the two bands along with This Wild Life, Beartooth, and others (which have not been announced) will be touring the world together. Opening the theatre at 6 p.m., there was already a line circling the building. The first 500 lucky people to get in were given pit passes so that they could have a front row experience.
This Wild Life, a pop-punk duo from Long Beach, and Beartooth, a hardcore punk band from Columbus, Ohio, started the show off while the lobby was full of fans. Fans were able to watch the two opening acts on big screens while buying exclusive world tour band merch and hanging out on the rooftop lounge.
Finally, came the two bands everyone had been pumped up for! Sleeping with Sirens performed for the very first hour singing both new-never-heard-before and old we-know-every-word songs. Both “Kick Me” and “We Like It Loud” are featured in their next album coming in 2015. Kellin Quinn, the lead singer of the Florida-born band, had an inspirational message before he performed their songs “Low” and “Scene Two-Roger Rabbit” making his fans go crazy and making some even cry because they could all relate. After several more songs, including “Do It Now, Remember It Later” and “If I’m James Dean, You’re Audrey Hepburn” they left the stage behind towers of smoke leaving everyone speechless during intermission.
Pierce the Veil, coming from So-Cal’s very own San Diego, started off their set by performing their famous “Caraphernelia” making everyone rock out and scream until their throats hurt. Vic Fuentes, the to-die-for lead singer, made all his fans happy by singing “Bulletproof Love” and “I’m Low on Gas and You Need a Jacket”. This lead singer made one girl’s day by bringing her on stage and singing the last part of “I’m Low on Gas” to her while holding her hand.
Kellin and Vic ended the already mesmerizing show by singing (and screaming, of course) “King for a Day” together. The Fox Theatre’s floors were shaking from both groups of fans jumping and you could barely hear the singer’s voices over the voices of everyone who sang right along to every word. On the last strum of guitar and last hit of the drum, the bands’ tech crews shot pink and green confetti over the entire crowd.
It would be safe to say that Sleeping with Sirens and Pierce the Veil left Pomona Fox Theatre with a bang! Don’t forget the screams and shouts from their fans!
