Black Friday, the infamous busiest shopping day of the year, has rolled around once again. Kicking off the start of holiday shopping, this world-renowned event of people rising at the crack of dawn (sometimes even camping outside of stores) to gain the best retail deals of the season has grown larger and more hyped each year. But how does one anti-fad shopper’s perspective come into play on such a materialistic affair, the day after we give thanks for all we have?
Granted, who doesn’t love grabbing a great steal on the new GoPro, or snagging a 50% off pair of UGGS? I know I do. However, as millions shell out billons of dollars on Black Friday Weekend, statistics have tallied up more than just the overall gross. Each year, there have been dozens of stories of stampeding crowds resulting in injuries, a few deaths, mass shoplifting, and violent scuffles.
Allison Abril (11) shared her thoughts on the day after Thanksgiving shopping craze.
“I love Black Friday, it allows me to get a lot of my shopping done while getting the best deals. I like not having to pay full price for the more expensive things. I’m not sure I’d wake up at 5am like some people, though.”
It goes to show that Black Friday, the annual busiest shopping day of the year, has its negative and positive connotations. Will you be participating in the holiday shopping mania?
