On February 1, 2015 the New England patriots faced off against the Seattle Seahawks in Glendale Arizona for Super Bowl 49. After much controversy surrounding Deflate gate, but after a hard fought battle proved that the Brady-Belicheck legacy was not tainted, Patriots held up the Lombardi trophy for the fourth time in 15 years. Even though Seahawks made great plays; it wasn’t enough to beat the Pats, Pats end up winning 28-24.
The first quarter was slow and neither team was able to score. Both teams had to punt on each of their first drive, but on the Patriots second drive they drove the ball down the field and were on the 17-yard line when Tom Brady threw an interception. On the interception the corner back who picked it ended up getting hurt on the play. Then the Seahawks had to punt the ball again.
Both teams kicked it up in the second quarter. First the Patriots drove down the field and on the 11-yard line Brady threw the ball great to Danny Amendole for a touchdown with an extra point made by Stephen Gostkowski. The Seahawks answered back going down the field with a great play by Chris Matthews and on the 3yard line Marshawn Lynch ran it in with an extra point made by Steven Hauschka. In a 2-minute offense the pats drove down the field and Rob Gronkowski scored a 22-yard receiving touchdown with 31 seconds left. With 3 great plays the Seahawks scored an 11-yard pass touchdown by Russell Wilson with 2 seconds remaining.
After a great halftime show it was all Seattle as they marched down the field with key plays from Lynch and they were able to score a 27-yard field goal. The Seahawks offense took advantage of the good field position, and on the 3-yard line Wilson threw a great pass to Doug Baldwin for a touchdown.
As the scoreboard turned to the fourth quarter the Seahawks had a commanding lead. The Pats looked for the biggest fourth quarter comeback in Super Bowl history. They started this great comeback with a good drive and a 4-yard pass touchdown to Danny Amendola from Brady. With a great stop by the Pats defense, Brady again drove down the field and scored a lead-taking 3-yard touchdown to Edelman. With 2 minutes left and possibly the last drive of the season, Seattle had a 30-yard throw to Lynch and then made the best play of the season with a 40-yard miracle catch by Jermain Kearse. On the last play of the Super Bowl, with one of the most confusing calls of the season, Pete Carroll elects to throw on the 1-yard line and it is intercepted by the rookie M.Butler.
