The 2015 Grammy Awards premiere Sunday, February 8 with some of music’s best nominated. With artists such as Iggy Azalea, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and Sam Smith nominated, it will be a tight race.
Taylor Swift is set to win Record of the Year for her top charting hit, “Shake it Off.” “Shake it Off” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for a consecutive week. It became the 22 song to debut at number one in the chart’s history. Swift’s up against great artists such as Sam Smith, Iggy Azalea, Sia, and Meghan Trainor; however, none of their songs reached the popularity and critical response that Taylor Swift received for “Shake it Off.”
Another artist who’s set to bring home a Grammy is blue-eyed British soul singer, Sam Smith. He is the only artist this year who has nominations all across the board. The Best New Artist title is predicted by many individuals to go to Smith for his hit song, “Stay with Me” and album, In the Lonely Hour.
Album of the Year is what most musical artists thrive for. Albums such as Beck by Morning Place, Beyonce by Beyonce, X by Ed Sheeran, In the Lonely Hour by Sam Smith, and Girl by Pharrell Williams are all in competition for the award. While every one of these albums had its highlights, only one winner can be crowned. Beyonce’s self-titled album is thought to be the surest bet in this category. This being her sixth nomination just this year, there is no doubt that she will be taking the title.
Tune in Sunday February 8, at 8pm ET on CBS to see if your favorites will be 2015’s Grammy Award winners.
