The Santiago Sharks baseball season is fast approaching with only a few weeks before their first game. The Sharks look to continue their overall success from last year where they went 17-9-1. The varsity team however would like to achieve a better league record and make the playoffs by improving from a 6-9-0 league record.
The Sharks look to accomplish this with great returning veterans like #19 R. Rutherford (12), #1 B. Turang (10), and #22 C. Young (12) having fantastic seasons. The team also looks upon their new freshman talent #9 N. Castillo for a great rookie season. It seems coach DeTrinidad has assembled a strong squad for the upcoming 2016 season.
If the Sharks can continue their great batting percentage at .349 and an average ERA of under 3.00 they look like favorites for the Big 8 title and a run to the playoffs. The Sharks varsity team is prepared to start the season with the Newport Elks tournament at the end of February and Big 8 League play in the beginning of March.
