Human beings have always looked different to each other. Whether by how they dress or act in front of others, people are always playing chameleon. However I believe that you should only judge by what’s behind the mask that many wear to hide their true emotions.
Some people who judge by appearance or by how others dress normally go by the stereotypical outfit. If a man is wearing a dark hoody and sweat pants at night, under a street light some will see him a stalker and others might see him as a jogger. And if you see a woman wearing a nice red dress and high heels, you probably believe her to be someone who is wealthy or famous. So how do you know if someone is or isn’t good at heart?
Now others judge by how people act. If some one acts shy around people, many see the person as shy but he/she could like the person they are shy around. And if you see some one who is sad, you assume something negative happened to them. But how do you know if they aren’t crying for something they did or caused? When someone acts up in certain a way, we see them for what they appear to be, but what you see doesn’t always reflect the truth.
Others, including myself, believe that you should only judge someone after you get to know them. If you learn a bit about someone, then you can judge because you have evidence concerning their true character or their beliefs, be it right or wrong. Talk to people; don’t be the type of person who only looks on the outside. Get through the mask that many wear to truly learn whom you are talking to. It’s difficult but the reward outweighs the risk.
Be our own person. Don’t rush into judging someone because you do not know him or her. They are their own person, not just some bump in the road or a crack on the street. Treat every man, woman, and child with respect until you learn more about them. Everyone has a story: will you listen? Or will you act rashly and make assumptions based on how they dress or act around others? If you judge by appearance alone, then you will be corrupted and corruption lies on the road to damnation.
