The Mouse House is back with another smash hit. This past Friday, Zootopia opened in theaters. Now talking animals isn’t new but a whole world where humans don’t exist and predator and prey live in harmony is certainly new. So what was Zootopia about and what did the Mouse House have up their sleeves this time?
This movie was almost flawless. Everything about it was so magical. The entire setting of the film took place in an animal controlled city called Zootopia. The city was split into 4 different districts where different types of animals lived. There was the cold Tundra Town, wet Rainforest District, scorching Sahara Square, and the city itself, Zootopia where all types of animals lived.
That was one of the most thought-out and detailed worlds I’ve ever seen. That’s what Disney is best at is there attention to detail. You would look at ,for example, the subway where it had different size doors and apartments for animals, a place where hippos could dry off from swimming, and a bunch of parodies to companies like “Starbucks” and “Macy’s” or “Mousy’s”.
The characters are what made this movie so funny. All these diverse characters where so clever, funny, and entertaining. The cast included Once Upon A Time’s, Gennifer Goodwin, as Judy Hopps the bunny, Jason Batman, as Nick Wilde the fox, Idris Elba, as Chief Bogo, and Jenny Slate as Bellwether. This movie has so many characters in the background from Sloth’s running the DMV, Hamsters as Businessmen, and Elephants and Rhinos as Police officers. It was so entertaining seeing all these animals performing human rolls.
There was really one song that played throughout the movie. They had popular singer, Shakira play the “famous” singer of Zootopia, Gizelle, who sang the song “Try Everything”.
The Plot of the movie is when an ambitious and smart bunny named Judy Hopps becomes a police officer of Zootopia, she teams up with a sly and clever fox named Nick Wilde to find animals that went missing throughout the city. The story was incredibly though out and kept your eyes glued to the screen.
This movie came out at the perfect time. It made several references to problems were facing in the real world like police brutality, sexism, feminism, and drug abuse. Disney did it in a perfect way without offending anyone and still managed to entertain people of all ages. It has quickly risen to becoming one of the most popular Disney movies or if even, animated movie ever. It even beat the opening weekend sales of Frozen.
I think everyone should see this movie because it was funny, compelling, detailed, and powerful. Disney certainly didn’t disappoint with a great cast and fun world that made you wish was real! Zootopia is now in theaters.
