September 14th, American Horror Story Season 6 aired its first episode with a reveal of the season’s confusing, yet gory theme. Despite all previous seasons, the producer, Ryan Murphy, left critics and AHS fans in the dark about the plot line.

The theme was revealed during episode 1, “My Roanoke Nightmare”, taking a different approach of the show and portraying it as a reality TV which is centralized around re-enactments narrated by Lily Rabe playing Shelby and new-comer Andre Holland playing Matt. Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr. portray the re-enactments and are the spotlights of the first episode.

Past themes of the American Horror Story have been intriguing, but “My Roanoke Nightmare” has been nonetheless, a disappointment to fans judging by the first two episodes. It also helps to have background information of the story of Roanoke, which was a colonial town with 117 men, women, and children that inexplicably died in North Carolina where the season takes place. Producers Ryan Murphy and co-writer Lady Gaga are utilizing these unexplained disappearances to make a Season 6 of AHS based on true events.

Although these past episodes haven’t been satisfying to the anticipated wait, there is still a lot to see for Season 6 and AHS fans should not give up on the season just yet. Furthermore, the show still has a lot potential and will be sure to not disappoint its viewers
