Ohana Fest- Headliner Lana Del Rey Steals the Spotlight

At Doheny Beach on August 28th , the first annual Ohana Fest was held. It was obvious that the majority of the crowd was there in anticipation of the headliner and Alternative artist, Lana Del Rey. The festival was held in a beautiful venue and was perfect sized for some good-natured laid back fun for music lovers.

Some of the performances like Cat Power and City and Colour did not excite many with the melancholy mood they portrayed or maybe because of the anxious fans of Lana patiently waiting. In between sets the crowd slowing began caving into the stage, but it immediately became an outburst once the lights dimmed and Lana appeared out of the darkness. Opening the concert with the smooth song “Cruel World” and ending with the chilling lyrics of “Off to the Races”, the whole concert was live with singing, dancing, and conversations with the fans.

The Ohana Fest was a success with the intimate performances of artists “Put Your Records On” singer Corinne Bailey Rae and Lana Del Rey. These two singers of the festival gave a surreal feeling on a Sunday afternoon/night that will be hard to forget.

With ticket prices starting at $100, parking at $20, and the inevitable purchases at the merchandise table; this festival is worth it if you are die hard fans of any of the artists playing that year. The Ohana Fest should definitely be on the look out for next summer if you are into laid back tunes to enjoy with some friends.
