London's In-N-Out Pop-up Shop

In-N-Out is one of California’s favorite fast food joints. But how just how long would you wait for a burger? Londoners were very excited to get a taste of California when In-and-Out opened a pop-up shop in Swiss Cottage, London for just four hours and completely sold out in practically minutes. The only publicity of the pop-up was a small ad in the local newspaper, the Camden Local Journal.

The store opened on September 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in London, however lines started forming at 8 a.m. that day. The customer flow was more than the workers could serve! Gold wristbands were given out, guaranteeing people a burger. The shop sold out extremely quickly, and many people got there only to be told they were sold out. Kallie Hudson, a Londoner, took her disappointment to Twitter when she posted, “In-N-out pop-up in London from 11-3. Got there at 12:20… Sold out. I’M SO SAD!”

Many people are anticipating a new In-N-Out location in London. This little pop-up has convinced many that In-N-Out may go international. Carl Van Fleet, In-N-Out’s vice president, said in a prepared statement: “We have done events like this before in other countries, and they are just one part of our efforts to promote and expand our brand, as well as determine the best way to continue reaching out to customers around the world…We do not have any immediate plans to open permanent restaurants…but these special events will help us make future decisions.” The rest of the world will just have to wait and see if the fast food chain eventually branches out.
