Pink, The New Synthetic Drug
More stories from Ella Mago
U-47700, also known as Pink, is a new synthetic drug that has been involved with increasing overdoses throughout the nation. Pink can be easily purchased, and is very inexpensive. The drug comes in liquid, powder, and pill form. It has not been approved to be consumed by humans, but since it’s so inexpensive people still take the synthetic drug. So far it’s increasing its popularity with drug users, but pink is a substance that is very harmful to the human body even in small doses.
Dr. Cook from the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute in Addictive Medicine, stated that the drug “is very potent, it’s about seven and a half times more potent than morphine”. The DEA, the Drug Enforcement Administration, informed that there have been as many as fifty deaths nationwide as a result of pink intake. The DEA also warns the public to not intake the drug for it being very deadly. The deaths included those of two thirteen year old boys who died of pink intoxication in Salt Lake City, Utah.
