We Needed This More Than The Gilmore Girls Need Coffee

Thanksgiving celebrations continued at midnight on November 25, 2016 with the revival of the beloved Gilmore Girls series titled “Gilmore Girls: A Year in The Life.” 9 years’ after the infamous original ending, Netflix released 4 two hour long episodes, each representing a different season to tie up loose ends.

Bringing back multiple beloved characters hooked avid Gilmore Girls lovers from the start. Of course Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) reunited under the town gazebo kicking off the season. You get a look inside the Gilmore household after the original series finale with Luke Danes (Scott Patterson) and Lorelai still being in a long-lasting relationship and Rory jumping in and out of Stars Hollows due to her complicated success as a freelance journalist. Most of the plot was based on Rory’s uncertainty in her life at that moment.

Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry) is the first of Rory’s ex-lovers to appear back in Rory’s life after her disappointing rejection, although the unsatisfactory of his point of returning. Unfortunately, Jess Marino (Milo Ventimiglia) and Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki) don’t make as big of appearances, but are very important to the plot all in the same. The relatable Paris Geller (Liza Weil) returns, running a surrogacy company and wanting to build an empire (because what else would she be trying to do).  Doyle (Danny Strong), in correlation to Paris, makes an appearance or two. Through Rory’s struggles, Lorelai and Lane (Keiko Agena) separately take their turns guiding her out of turmoil. The arduous relationship between Lorelai and her mom, Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop), continues to wreak havoc, following the death of the treasured Richard Gilmore (Edward Herrman).

Stars Hollow has been reinvented by the modern movements that have been accomplished since the previous finale. With a few town meetings and a very interesting town musical, the small town is just as peculiar as it always has been. As we follow the Gilmore girls through their life journeys, Amy Sherman-Palladino gave us an equal ration of happy and sad tears, just as the original series did.

Concluding with a shocking plot twist that left everyone’s jaws dropping, the only thing we really want to know is… WHAT IS LUKE’S WIFI PASSWORD AND CAN WE GET A CUP OF HIS COFFEE?!
