Seniors Honored Once Accepted Into College
January 20, 2017
A celebration was held on Tuesday at Depaul Cristo Rey high school after every senior was accepted into college. It’s cool that they were honoring seniors who were taking the first big step towards being a successful adult. Principal Andy Farfsing said “we work hard with these students…we welcomed freshman with a promise that all students will graduate and we will work as a team to get to college.” This celebration even included a movie created by the staff. Now that’s just cool, honoring and respecting the students who worked this hard to get to this point in their life. The best part was that they did it together. Senior Joseph Whittle said “We know that we did it together and all the other underclassmen are going to look up and say, ‘That’s going to be me one day.'” Depaul Cristo has that positive attitude, determined to do everything they can to get students to graduate. The seniors have earned 3.8 million in merit-based scholarship money.
I think every high school should do this. It takes a lot work for a college to accept you, so we really should honor and reward those students who put in the extra work outside school to get into college since most students are just satisfied with graduating and really don’t have a huge interest in college. So to have students who are willing to do more and learn more is just outstanding. I really appreciate what Depaul Cristo did. They let their high graduates know that they are on the right path to becoming a successful person in life.
