Five people were rescued from a San Jose flash flood on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Rescue departments were called upon in San Jose and San Joaquin to help rescue people that were trapped within flashflood areas. Civilians along the San Jose were rescued by departments at an encampment center created for the homeless. 255 San Jose residents were taken to lands and rinsed off with water and soap in order to prevent becoming ill from Coyote Creek floodwaters.  They could become ill, because of floodwaters that traveled through garbage, debris, sewer lines and engine fuels.

Residents that floodwaters had wiped out their houses were able to temporarily live in shelters. The flashflood was a disaster in San Jose. One of the civilians, Alex Hilario, had described what it the flashflood was like from his home, and said “the water started to seep in the driveway, and then it started to creep up into the front door. It kept getting worse and worse”. Bobby Lee was rescued by rescue departments along with his family, and they all brought along photos, electronics, and clothes from their home, which was flooded.

Rescue departments are currently searching for civilians that are trapped as a result of the flash flood.
