On March 6th Rihanna presented her 3rd Fenty x Puma by Rihanna collection at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France for Paris Fashion Week. Her long-awaited collection finally made its debut with the theme of “Fenty University”, as the fashion show was held in a library, with detention slips being used as the invite cards and study tables used as the runway.

The previous Sunday before the fashion show, Rihanna released a teaser for her fashion show proclaiming her promptness when the night of the show arrived but she was inevitably 40 minutes late and therefore the show was behind its 3pm scheduled start.

The venue for Rihanna’s fashion show was massive and majestic, mimicking a set from Harry Potter with books and shelves stacked miles above the heads of every guest. Not to mention the extended study tables functioning as the catwalk of every model along with little green lights accenting the table. Books were also dispersed all over the venue with “Fenty Class of 2017” printed on them adding to her distinct “Fenty University” theme.

When the show finally started, the first model strutted out to the opening song “Creep” by Radiohead and as the show progressed guests witnessed the introduction to who Rihanna was as a person. She had presented the most diverse and unique collection which held a variety of “oversized, gender-bending pieces that played up to the theme perfectly, including coach’s jackets, soccer jerseys-turned dresses, tracksuits, cropped and oversized crest polo shirts, baseball tees, chunky sweaters, and schoolgirl skirts, and “F” branded backpacks in the shape of teddy bears.”

When the show came to a close Rihanna explained her inspiration for her Fenty x Puma “Back-to-School” collection as she never got to express herself materialistically when living in Barbados, she used her fame and passions to express who she is.
