Alfredo Preciado, Staff Writer
Alfredo Preciado (10) is a current sophomore at Santiago High School. He enjoys math and
science and is in speech, debate, chess, and Dungeons and Dragons. Hobbies include
playing chess, gaming, and learning math. He plans on attending Caltech after high school
to become a mathematical physicist.
He is from Baja California, Mexico, and is fluent in both English and Spanish. Recently, he visited the aquarium. Although he does not enjoy writing as much as other students, he joined journalism
because he needs to develop his research skills for the future. The people with the most significant
impact on his life are his parents because they constantly support him.
Alfredo realized his love of math long ago, though he does not remember why. What he likes
most of all is the challenge, a problem that can be solved only with logic. That is also the
reason why he enjoys playing chess so much. Of course, he has his tough moments, but
what does not kill you makes you stronger. “Strength is the outcome of need” (Wells, 32).
In the future, he hopes to continue studying math and physics and improve his writing and
communication skills. He aspires to pursue a career in the STEM field. You can reach him at
