Shanyl Syal

Shanyl Syal, Staff Writer

Shanyl Syal is a 12th grader who helps create articles for the school’s journalism program. He joined journalism because he wanted to develop a variety of skills he could use in the real world.

Outside of school, Shanyl enjoys playing soccer, going to the gym, fixing cars, and working on different parts of a house. He hopes to one day own multiple HVAC businesses with his last name proudly displayed on every company truck. He’s also interested in investing in stocks.

Shanyl has dreamed of being a business owner for a long time, but wasn’t sure how to begin. That changed when he worked with his uncle over the summer and learned fascinating details about running a business. Now, he feels more confident about the path ahead.

While he doesn’t consider himself the best writer, Shanyl has always enjoyed writing and storytelling. His love for it began in 9th grade, when his little sister asked him to write a story for her school project. He had so much fun with it that he kept writing—and still enjoys it today.
