The last rally of the year went off with a bang as the Black Sea ran in to perform and pump up the crowd. A surge of energy came as the class screams began, with freshman, sophomores, juniors and the seniors all represented.
Spring sports took the stage with announcements of the games to come up. These games included boys golf March 17 and the meet for track and field March 22.
Dance came out next to greet the crowd with an awe-inspiring routine, pumping up everyone for what was to come next. The sea of sharks took to their feet for girls’ water polo as they received their props for winning CIF.
Cheer went to the floor with a dramatic performance to ring in the race for the teachers. Mrs. Mead, Mrs. Brasington and Mrs. Hessler lined up on tricycles. Mrs. Mead shot across the finish line first, winning a pizza party for one of her classes.
Hip-Hop team closed the first rally with a surprise. As the routine drew to a close, members of the dance and cheer team joined in on the fun.
The second rally held its own surprises with a much larger crowd and some changes in the agenda. All the performances added a little extra for the gym-filling crowd.
The guys of the Black Sea took off their masks to reveal the identities of those behind the scream-evoking moves. Afterwards a sophomore girl was asked to prom. Bold letters were held up spelling out “prom”, which she answered with a run down the bleachers and a hug for her soon-to-be date.
Next, drum line came out again, this time facing the graduating class. The seniors stood to get into the beat with them, which caused security to hang around after the performance was finished.
The program proceeded with the videos of spring sports and a show of support. This time, however, when water polo came out the three seniors that have spent all four years on the sport were given time for their own separate applause from the crowd. Santiago’s own Mr. Mitchell was the one to call out the CIF winners and made it clear that these girls will be missed.
Cheer came out with another grand performance. Santiago’s color guard came afterwards to show why they are first in state. The performance was rather surprising though due to the fact that they were not present in the first rally.
The rolling out of the games proceeded, this time seniors of water polo versus teachers. The teachers took the win with Mrs. Baker crossing the finish line.
Hip hop closed this show as well with a larger crowd, however, joining in the dance which security did not seem to take very well.
Then time came for the final scream. Everyone showed love for their class, but seniors took the cake when a huge number came down to the floor spraying confetti and silly string. Girls and guys got on shoulders to stand out in the crowd and took to tossing blue balloons, thus ending the final rally of the year of 2012.
