AOC to Ted Cruz ” You Tried To Have Me Killed”

On Thursday, January 28th, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accused Sen. Ted Cruz of “trying to get [her] killed” during the January 6th U.S. Capitol rebellion and called for his resignation from the Senate, after the Texas Republican appeared to align with her on an investigation into Wall Street anarchy in Robinhood.

She said, and I quote “I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out”. Then she directly tweeted to the senator, “happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that isn’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime, if you want to help, you can resign.”

She then goes on to state, “you haven’t even apologized for the serious physical + mental harm you contributed to from Capitol Police & custodial workers to your own fellow members of Congress. In the meantime, you can get off my timeline & stop clout-chasing. Thanks.”

In response to what AOC said, Cruz responds, “you know, there’s a lot of partisan anger and rage on the Democratic side. It’s not healthy for our country, it’s certainly not conducive of healing or unity, but everyone has to decide how they want to interact with others.”

Ocasio-Cortez responds by writing “Oh, there’s anger? Now, why would there be anger that Cruz amplified known lies about our election that fueled an insurrection that cost ppl’s lives? What does he think the logical response to his lies should be? A hug? Maybe there’s anger [because] his actions deserve accountability.”

About a week after the Capitol attack, AOC spoke up on Instagram Live about her experience, clearly stating that if things had turned out even a little differently, she figured even more people might have been killed. She made it clear in the video that she suspects that inside the Republican caucus there are white supremacists. As well as that the party has more and more generally endorsed white nationalism.

As a supporter of AOC, I can be a little biased. I also dislike Ted Cruz, and would really like to see him leave his position of office.  I believe that this was Ted’s way of trying to squash the beef they had. He was being completely insensitive only because she just went through something so traumatic it might scar her for the rest of her life. Not to mention, Ted refuses to apologize so it just makes AOC look stupid and childish even though she has every right to be upset. I don’t think they should’ve brought their issues to Twitter. At the same time, I recognize that Twitter is a platform to speak your mind and say what you feel. I hope TedCruz realizes what he did wrong and apologizes to AOC. I also hope AOC seeks professional help if she needs it.

What do you presume?
