“The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” Upcoming Series on Disney+

With WandaVision over, and fans waiting for more, the Falcon and the Winter Soldier series starts next Friday on the 19th. Although the first MCU series, WandaVision, received some mixed opinions, Falcon and the Winter Soldier should be more positive as it follows a more traditional Marvel script. The show is set after the events of Endgame as Bucky and Sam have just returned from being “Blipped”. This will not only be about Bucky and Sam’s journey to stop the newest villain, but it will also follow them to adapt to the new world they are in. With Sam and Bucky being gone for 5 years, they will have to re-establish themselves once more. This will be a process, especially for Bucky as he has thought to have been dead for over 60 years.

In this new show, we will be embarking on an adventure with the two “proteges” of the great Captain America. While Sam and Bucky had participated in the armed forces, they have both learned so much from Captain America, and a great friend and leader. With Cap now out of the picture, these two will have to take on his legacy and make sure it never dies. In some of the first teasers, we see Sam and Bucky both training with the shield, something we have seen in the comics. There are some instances where either Bucky or Sam holds the shield, but it appears as though it is more shared in this series. Another thing from the teasers we have seen is a very familiar character, which is Helmut Zemo. If you are not familiar with the name, he is the same villain who tore the Avengers apart in Captain America: Civil War. It appears this time he could be teaming up with the pair as he has been spotted with the duo throughout set photos. He is also taking up his iconic comic book look with the purple mask and all. The main villain is said to be Flag-Smasher and Ultimatum. In the comics, Flag-Smasher is said to be the exact opposite of Captain America. He is a strong advocate of anarchy and started a group called ULTIMATUM. ULTIMATUM a.k.a. Underground Liberated Totally Integrated Mobile Army To Unite Mankind, is an organization that Flag-Smasher oversees. His followers share his same philosophies and ideologies as him, as well as give him a fighting chance against those trying to stop him.

The cast of the show contains the same actors we have seen previously in other movies. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will return for their roles of Bucky and Sam. Daniel Bruhl will play Zemo and Emily VanCamp will be returning as Sharon Carter. As for the show itself, it will span 6 episodes until the 23rd of April. As there are still many questions from WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier hopes to give more insight into the current situation of the MCU.
