How Your Religion Could Affect Your Relationships

Does being raised in different religious backgrounds affect your relationships?
Having been raised in such a Godly environment, it could be hard to form strong relationships throughout your life. With that being said, it could be a result of social and religious disagreements, abuse, crime, and so much more. Religion has such a powerful impact on one’s life that it could shape you into the best version of yourself or the worst.
Being that religion can make or break one’s life, being in a relationship, such as marriage, can test one’s bond. For certain religions, such as Christianity, God(Jesus Christ) is the main priority for a couple. For a healthy relationship to flourish, God has to be put 1st in every Christian life, and if he is not, then the relationship will not grow. In 2016, during the presidential election, the people would have more political discussions rather than religious ones. 59% of U.S. adults preferred to discuss the political aspects instead of discussing the religious aspects, but the other 41% of U.S. adults thought differently. According to https://www.deseret.com, it says, “Only 44 percent of Americans say shared religious beliefs are very important for a successful marriage, compared to 66 percent who say having shared interests, 63 percent who say a satisfying sexual relationship and 62 percent who say sharing household chores, Pew Research Center reported in October.” Believing in a higher power, praying together, going to church together, basing your decisions on reasoning and truth, sharing your successes and failures with your partner, trusting in your creator(Jesus Christ), having faith that everything is working and manifesting in your favor, and praising God(Jesus Christ) with your life partner is the key to any type of healthy relationship. If none of these are examples are being pursued in a relationship, marriage, it could lead to divorce, separation, abuse(mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Just how religion is a big factor for marriage, it can also be a factor of friendships. Friendships play a big role in peoples’ lives, especially if they don’t have a stable household. Friendship is a necessity for peoples’ lives. It can make you have a purpose in life, it can reduce stress, it can make you feel whole, it can improve your decision-making, and so much more. Even though you may not believe in the same things and or aspects of religion, it does not mean that your friendships are doomed to fail and or end right away. In some cases, people have lost their way, they have resorted to worshipping things and or objects and have given up. Does that mean one has the right to judge them or abandon them? No, that just means that that is more of a reason to stand by them and be there for them when you need them because you never know when or if that will save their lives, especially spiritually.
No matter how many peoples’ lives you save and no matter if God is in the center of your marriage, anything can happen and the only friendship and or relationship you could ever depend on is your relationship with God (Jesus Christ). Being a part of a religion that accepts you for everything that is and every single flaw that you possess is everything, and at the end of the day, that is the only relationship that you could ever count on. “People mostly benefit from leveraging religion and turning to God as a friend only when they lack supportive social connections,” according to www.sciencedaily.com. At the end of the day, people may or may not let you down, at the end of the day, men and or women may or may not cheat on you, at the end of the day, people may or may not let you down, but one person that will never let you down is God and that is a fact.
Religion plays an important role in any and every relationship you may encounter in your life. It can shape you into the person that you never thought that you would become. It can drain you emotionally, physically, and spiritually. It can even turn your and others’ lives around. It all depends on how you receive it. But, if you do choose to decide to put your religion first in every relationship you may encounter, it will change your outlook on life.
