Alana Jollevet, Staff Writer

Alyssa Cortez is a senior here at Santiago High School. She is a member of the school’s Color Guard team and one of the team leaders. She has been on the color guard team for all four years here at Santiago. During her free time, Alyssa enjoys reading, walking her dog, and making trips to Orange County. After her experience in Color Guard and her time at Santiago Alyssa has much to say.

How did you get interested in the Color Guard team?

I saw the team perform at citrus and they said it would get me out of PE and they were going to new york that year so I tried out.

How has color gaud been for you these past 4 years?

It’s been great so far, I’ve come to enjoy it much more in my senior and junior years now that I’ve made the competition block.

How has being on the team changed you?

It’s helped me meet new people, work hard, and it’s a nice little community to be a part of.

How do you feel about Color Guard?

I really love it now and I’ll be back to see the team’s future performances.

How has life at Santiago been good for you?

Santiago is a pretty good school, with good school colors, good teachers, and a nice campus

What are your plans after graduation?

I’m going to cal state Fullerton to major in history and hopefully graduate to become a history teacher.

What are your plans for the future?

In the future I hope I can travel a lot to Europe and national parks, I also hope I can live in another state for a while maybe Washington or Oregon.

We wish Alyssa luck on her journey to Fullerton and her plans after.
