On Monday, October 29, at 3:00 AM PST, Tyler, The Creator, dropped his new album Chromakopia. This album had fans worldwide on the edge of their seats as Tyler hadn’t dropped an album since 2021, with his last one, before “Chromakopia,” being “Call Me If You Get Lost.” Not only did Tyler’s announcement cause an uproar, the theories for features fans believed would be on the album took over the internet. A popular one is Frank Ocean, who stole the hearts of people worldwide and left them with his latest studio album, “Blonde,” released in 2016, almost 8 years ago. Other popular features fans believed would be on the album were Pharrell, Steve Lacy, Daniel Caesar, and Kendrick Lamar.
To much surprise, Tyler did not list any of the features AT FIRST, which was surprising and disappointing to many fans as they were very eager to see who would be on this album, especially with all the possibilities floating around on the internet. Soon after, Tyler released the features, which included Daniel Caesar, Teezo Touchdown, Childish Gambino, Schoolboy Q, Doechii, Lil Wayne, GloRilla, and Sexyy Red. Some huge surprises while others were predictable but welcomed.
Tyler’s album “Chromakopia” is believed to be about a midlife crisis. It is presumed to target young adults as it is very heavy on certain topics such as, “Don’t you ever stop bein’ who you are…” (St. Chroma, Tyler, The Creator). It also talks about protecting oneself, in Noid by Tyler, The Creator a woman is heard saying “Keep to yourself, keep your business to yourself…” This foreshadows betrayal and deception by those you consider close, doing you wrong.
