Hard Work of Girls Lacrosse
As the new year starts, a new lacrosse season for girls’ lacrosse starts, too; girls’ lacrosse has been training since September. They have been working hard with really tough conditioning and trying to figure out new ways and aspects of the sport and how to win this season. They are trying to accomplish a winning CIF this season as they work very hard. In their league final last year, Santiago Lacrosse won for the fourth time in a row but made it to CIS and the semi-finals and lost. Girls lacrosse want to win CIF this year, so they are putting in all their work and time into the sport and trying to benefit. When this is the last year for some seniors, they are trying to work just as hard.
Conditioning and Running
The girls have been working very hard on their running and conditioning. They start the practice by running two laps around the field to get a good conditioning warm-up and conditioning and have their legs ready for all practice. They have been doing almost two to three miles of practice of just running and being able to be quick on their feet. They have been running over 100 yards each practice, back and forth from each end of the field, and doing lunches to strengthen their legs.
The Offensive side
The attack works together to make strong and great decisions on the attack so that they can get past other teams in different places. They have been finding different and new and improved ways to get past those girls and improve their skills. They have been focusing on catching and throwing and being able to pick up a ground ball. They have also been focusing on making runs and cutting plays through the defenders. During practice, they run a 7v7 against the defense, where they run multiple plays. They have included making runs and making cuts to find openings between the players. In doing so, they try to find openings to receive the pass and score a goal.
The Defense side
Their defense has been working on their quick footwork and being able to defend a player and how to do it. They have
been working on multiple drills that are helping them get down on ground balls and win them. Also, Be able to box out the girl when she’s trying to get the ground ball. They have been working very hard on 2V1 ground balls and being able to pick up the ground ball and clear it to the other girl. For the 1v2 to be able to Defend two players in one play. They have also been working on 7v7 to communicate very well with one another and defend each player running around them and calling different switches. They have also been working on intercepting the ball from the players. They also want to be able to read the pass, and then they could read it and be there for it on time. They can even read it early so that they can intercept the pass.
Conclusion
Overall, the girl’s lacrosse team has been working very hard and will have a terrific season with all the hard work they are putting in. They have their goals for what they want. If they just keep working for them, they will get there fine. They have put in all the work they need and all the time and effort to do conditioning. They have put in tons and tons of work, and it’s inspiring to watch. I’m proud to say that this team represents our school because of their hard work and determination.
