Los Angeles is a popular city in California with multiple sites to see, places to go, and people to meet. Along with the interesting stores, The Hollywood Walk of Fame, bustling streets, and unique food, Los Angeles is home to many celebrities and famous people, such as the renowned singer Bruno Mars and the Kardashians. Unfortunately, as of January 7th, this place many people call home has been engorged in flames due to multiple fires like the Palisades, Eaton, and Hughes fires. While the cause of these fires remains unknown, many speculate that the strong winds, or perhaps arson, may be why these devastating fires occurred. People Magazine’s article “Celebrities Who Lost Homes in the Los Angeles Fires, and What They’ve Said” states, “Among the more than 80,000 displaced were celebrities, many of whom have called the area home for decades.” Out of the many celebrities, 52 have lost their homes and properties. Here is a list of 3 essential celebrities deprived of their properties due to the Los Angeles wildfires.
1. Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton was born on February 17, 1981, as the heiress of her grandfather’s fortune and the company of Hilton Hotels. She is a model, singer, actress, businesswoman, activist, DJ, and an American socialite. Paris is married to her husband Carter Reum and is a mother to her two kids, Phoenix and London. As a result of the Palisades fire, Paris Hilton and her family watched their $8.4 million Malibu beach house be ignited to flames on live television. “When I first saw the news, I was in complete shock—I couldn’t process it,” Paris wrote in a Jan. 9 Instagram post, where she showed off the remnants of her home. “But now, standing here and seeing it with my own eyes, it feels like my heart has shattered into a million pieces. Tyra Banks is a famous former model, writer, producer, and actress. She was born December 4, 1973, in Inglewood, California. During the events of her house burning down, Tyra recalls being at a friend’s house in Australia when she finally realized her home in L.A. was burned down. She didn’t share this information till she appeared on an Australian show called “Sunrise.” “Tyra Banks Reveals She Lost Her Home in the L.A. Wildfires,” an article by “The Hollywood Reporter,” quotes Tyra’s words from “Sunrise,” “I just didn’t want to pull a lot of attention to me,” she said. “I feel like there’s a lot of people that need that attention, so I haven’t talked about it, but I can’t sit here and not tell the truth that, yeah, we lost our house.”
3. John Goodman
John Goodman is an award-winning actor who has starred in many popular
movies and Disney animated films such as Monsters Inc., Emperors New Groove, and Cars. John Goodman is known to live in New Orleans, but not many know about his home in Los Angeles. He lived in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, and as of January 8th, People Magazine received photos of Goodman’s house with nothing but rubble and ash. Fox 2 Now reported, “Goodman, originally from Affton, Missouri, has owned a $4.6 million home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood since 2008. The home was burned down to its foundation as several other celebrity homes were also left in ashes.
