Recent news has been surfacing about a singer and songwriter named D4vd under investigation after the discovery of the head and torso of a teenage girl in the trunk of a white Tesla, registered to the artist. D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, had to cancel his upcoming shows, as he was on tour when the discovery came about.
The remains of the teenage girl were discovered inside a black bag in the trunk of a white Tesla on September 8th, 2025. She was later identified by medical examiners to be a girl named Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was reported missing by her parents in Lake Elsinore, California, in April of 2024, when she was just 13 years old. When she was found, examiners believed her to be about 14-15 years old. They also revealed that although her body was already in an advanced state of decomposition, her death was ruled to be a homicide.
Her body was discovered by the Los Angeles police department when they opened the trunk of David Anthony Bruke in an impound yard in Hollywood after someone had reported a foul odor coming from the vehicle. After the discovery, the LA police department found that the Tesla was registered to the artist D4vd. According to The Express Tribune, David is currently not listed as a suspect in the matter, although many nedisons believe otherwise due to the “incriminating” information they could find on him online; such as the lyrics in his music, live streams the artist had with Celeste Rivas, and even the mother of the victim stating that she had been dating someone named David at the time of her disapearance as seen on the Los Angeles Times.

Although the police stated that there has yet to be a suspect or person of interest publicly named in the case, investigators executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills residence near where the body was found. David did not own the residence, but it was confirmed that it was the location in which he had been staying for a period of time. Investigators were seen seizing electronics and items for forensic review, according to NBC News.
Rumors and speculation online have circulated suggesting possible connections or prior interactions between Burke and Rivas, including a matching “Shhh…” tattoo on their right index fingers. However, law enforcement has cautioned that such signals are speculative and not definitive proof that D4vd was involved in the case.

During the time of the discovery and identification of Celeste Rivas, d4vd cancelled the remainder of his U.S. tour dates and removed many European dates from ticketing sites. The deluxe edition release of his album Withered was also postponed. Furthermore, several brands and collaborators have distanced themselves from the singer amid the controversy. Endorsements and promotional activities have been frozen or pulled. The public reaction has been intense, with fans, critics, and social media users dissecting lyrics, music videos, photos, and online chats for clues or confirmations of a deeper conspiracy.
On October 6, 2025, Rivas’s family laid her to rest in a private funeral held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights, over a month after the remains were released to them. As of now, the case remains active and unresolved. Authorities continue to pursue leads, digital evidence analysis, forensic results, and witness statements. The public and media maintain keen scrutiny, with many hoping for clarity, accountability, and justice for Celeste.
