Frank Ocean’s 1st album “Channel Orange” was a huge debut back in July of 2012 & was a great addition to the music industry. Three years later, around April of 2015, Ocean announced that the follow-up album to “Channel Orange” would be released in July but the delay was never explained. Speculations were made towards the release of “Blonde” due to the previous set-back but on August 20th his second studio album “Blonde” was released. This new addition to Frank Ocean’s success was a major moment for his music career & has already made $1 million, not to mention the top spot he holds in both the UK and the US .
“Blonde” has a consoling and deeply emotional vibe. Ocean’s opening song, “Nikes” features a line referring to Trayvon Martin, “RIP Trayvon Martin , that n**** look just like me” which conveys a strong political statement. Compared to “Channel Orange” which possesses a storytelling and love focus, “Blonde” features the horrors of society, everyday life & the simple idea of just existing. “Blonde” presents deep, sorrowful feelings and stories that bring you to the brink of tears.
In addition to “Blonde”, a visual album named “Endless” was released by Ocean which serves as a base for “Blonde”. “Endless” is more on the dull side but the 46-minute soundtrack holds the rawest side of Ocean. Both albums as a whole portray the most nostalgic & real emotions music can convey. Overall, the reputation Ocean holds is highly looked up to & his music continues to grow in success. You can purchase “Blonde” in the ITunes store for $9.99.
