Starting Monday, May 2, 2016 at 5a.m. the Corona Grand Boulevard will be closed for a week. According to the Riverside County Transportation Commission, this closure will allow crew workers to widen underneath the ramp on the 91 between Third and Joy streets.
And since Joy street will be closed at East Grand Boulevard, all of the main traffic that usually commutes there, will have to take an alternative route along Main street. Local businesses can be accessed via Harrison street. East Grand boulevard and Joy street will be reopened on Monday, May 9, 2016 with all lanes and sidewalks accessible to the public.
This construction will be an excellent addition to the 91 Project since traffic congestion has been increasing negatively over the past years. The project is a little ironic because it’s supposed to help decrease the traffic congestion, not increase it, which has been happening since the project first started. But all in all, this construction project will hopefully benefit all of the long and short distance commuters.
