The Great Wall Movie Review
April 12, 2017
The Great Wall, starring movie megastar Matt Damon, is a movie intended to depict ancient china and its most iconic attraction. However, many viewers, including myself, walked into this movie expecting something completely different than what was presented. Upon entering the theater I expected at least a semi-realistic movie taking into account regular Hollywood story fabrications.
The movie has been described as nothing more than a cheap ploy to try to combine the Chinese and American movie markets. The movie itself, however, left very little to be desired. The plot seemed to be inconsistent and simply incoherent. Difficult to follow and with a relatively convoluted story line The Great Wall failed to please both the Chinese and American movie watching markets. At first, the movie presented itself as a true depiction of the construction and defense of The Great Wall Of China, however as the movie progressed it became more and more fictitious, so much so that it was extremely difficult to follow what should have been a very easy to watch the film. However, I believe that in an attempt to provide viewers with a new style of movie that the general public had yet to see they lost sight of what was truly important. The audience’s ability to follow the plot.
Although the movie was ambitious and tried to provide the audience with a different style of movie, somewhere along the way the producers lost track of the plot itself. Even an actor like Matt Damon could not save this movie.
