With 2018 quickly coming to an end, 2019 is expected to be a huge year for the movie industry. Disney has announced that in 2019, there will be three live-action Disney movies, including Dumbo, Aladdin, and one of the most anticipated movies of the year, The Lion King. The Lion King will be directed by Jon Favreau, who is well known for directing the live-action Disney movie The Jungle Book, which was released in theaters in 2016. The live-action movie of The Lion King is a remake of the beloved animated movie that originally debuted in June of 1994. The animated movie was a big hit, receiving a rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and collecting 968.5 million dollars at the box office.

On November 22, 2018, Disney released The Lion King teaser trailer, which was viewed more than 224 million times in just a span of 24 hours, making this the most viewed debut in Disney trailer history. The trailer recreates scenes from the animated movie, and it also features famous actor James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa. Joining Jones in the cast is Donald Glover playing Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, the villain.

With the movie fast approaching, many questions have arisen regarding whether this The Lion King remake will live up to the standards set by the 1994 animated version of the film.  Will this movie bring back childhood memories? Will this movie hit the hearts of many? We will find out when the movie hits theaters on July 19 of 2019.
