In January 2019, an Instagram account was made for an egg, with the intentions to have the most liked post on Instagram. Its username is @world_record_egg. The account’s first post contains an egg with the caption explaining that the world should come together and beat Kylie Jenner’s most liked post of 18 million likes. Surprisingly, the world came together and did it.

Many Instagram users re-posted the picture on their Instagram stories and accounts, asking other users to come together and beat the world record. Many were clueless of what the egg meant but still liked the picture regardless. Determined to beat the record, more users shared and tagged their friends.

The account’s post reached 4.4 million likes within a short period of time, with the assistance of many known celebrities and Instagram influencers who asked their followers to share and like the picture of the famous egg. Some of those famous celebrities include Ellen DeGeneres, who re-posted a picture of an egg with Kylie Jenner’s face on Instagram, and DJPaulyD, who commented on the egg’s post asking Kylie Jenner to “accept the challenge.”

In response to the post eventually destroying her record, when it hit 19 million likes, Kylie Jenner posted a video of herself holding an egg and cracking it on the ground. This was counter-intuitive to Jenner’s cause, as the video caused viewers to seek out the egg post themselves.

The world often struggles to come together, due to clashing views and cultures. However, as shown by the sheer amount of likes on the post, it still retains the capability to do so. As the hours have gone by, the post has continued to climb by the millions, eventually hitting over 50 million likes.
